Emma Watson Stars in Theatrical Trailer for ‘The Bling Ring’

A follow-up trailer for The Bling Ring hit the net Tuesday night. The first one left a lot on the table for Sofia Coppola’s film about the true story chronicling a group of teens who robbed the rich and famous at the end of last decade. Its limited release begins on June 14.

Update: Emma Watson No Longer Set to Play Cinderella for Disney

perks of being a wallflower emma watsonUpdate 3/12:  Less than 24 hours after Disney decided to make a Beauty and the Beast movie to compete against Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation, the star of its competition Emma Watson has fallen out of negotiations for Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella.  Let the speculation begin as to whether this is business as usual or something more mischievous like a Mouse House ultimatum.

Original 3/2: Emma Watson is by far and away the most successful of the Harry Potter alums, and news that first dropped on Thursday confirms it.  Variety reported earlier in that week that the Perks of Being a Wallflower star has just entered talks to lead Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella for Disney.  The pic will place her opposite Cate Blanchett and we suspect more in the coming months as production ramps up.  This is going to be a live-action adventure and it will follow the Mouse House’s line of female skewing big budget tentpoles that began with Alice in Wonderland three years ago.

Audiences will next see Watson in the Sofia Coppola-directed dramedy The Bling Ring alongside Leslie Mann and also in Seth Rogen’s This Is The End.  Both film open June 14.

Emma Watson Stars in First Trailer for ‘The Bling Ring’

bling ringThe first trailer has landed for Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring starring Harry Potter alumna Emma Watson.  Its story is actually pretty cool even though the promo may come off to some of ‘showy.’  The plot centers around fame-obsessed teens who track celebs in order to rob their homes (thus all the bling.)  This is inspired by true events which means it did not actually happen, so instead just pay attention to the cast list which includes Emma Watson, Leslie Mann, and Taissa Farmiga.  If that last name sounds familiar, that is because she is the much-younger sister of Bates Motel actress Vera Farmiga who starred in the first season of American Horror Story. First Look Photos: Russell Crowe on the Set of ‘Noah’

We end a very soft news day with the initial unofficial photo grabs from the set of Darren Aronfsky’s Noah.  Courtesy of Splash, audiences get to see a grizzly-looking Russell Crowe set to act in the biblical epic.  The actor’s shaved head and grey, bushy beard is transformative to say the least, and might just be one of the most brazen ‘for-film’ makeovers of the year.  Let’s be honest though, it is still not as crazy as Matthew McConaughey’s drastic weight loss for his upcoming indie. Emma Watson Explains Post-’Harry Potter’ Career on ‘Ellen’

One could make an argument that Emma Watson might very well be making the most out of her post-Harry Potter days as the actress has retained the spotlight for the past year.  This time her new movie is The Perks of Being a Wallflower based on a novel by Stephen Chbosky who also directed the film.  Watson was on Ellen this week to help promote the limited release where she explained the trials of jump-starting a career in the industry following her early success. Emma Watson Teaches Jimmy Fallon Some Dancing Moves on ‘Late Night’

Harry Potter alumna Emma Watson was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night.  The goal?  To give some advance buzz to her new film The Perks of Being a Wallflower which is based on a hit book by Stephen Chbosky.  The interview did not have much to say about the actress’ future projects, but she did talk about her new 90′s-set movie’s playlist and showed Jimmy a few dancing moves in a memorable moment from the show. Seth Rogen’s “End of the World” Taps Jason Segel and Emma Watson

It looks like Seth Rogen’s directorial debut just got a little bit bigger.  The apocalypse-set comedy has recruited a few more celebrities to add to its already full cast as Jason Segel and Emma Watson will reportedly play themselves in End of the World.  The two actors will have relatively small appearances when compared to the core ensemble which includes Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson.

The fact that this movie has cameos in it should not be too surprising given that Rogen has gone on the record saying that the movie would be flooded with them.  Of course, none are expected to be as great as the recent Johnny Depp cameo in Jonah Hill’s 21 Jump Street; however, the Harry Potter references for Emma Watson could be a recipe for comedy gold should they go the obvious route.

Both actors are coming off of tame box office performances.  Jason Segel recently starred in The Five-Year Engagement alongside Emily Blunt in what turned out to be a Judd Apatow-produced dud.  Emma Watson on the other hand had a supporting role in the well-received indie drama My Week with Marilyn which only banked $15 million at the domestic box office.  Cameos are natural career boosters and that is why we think the appearances might help either actor’s career in the long run even if it does come in the form of making fun of their past work.

Emma Watson Could Rejoin Her “Harry Potter” Director in New Feature

One of the most interesting bits of casting news today has to be Deadline’s report on Emma Watson re-teaming with her Harry Potter director David Yates.  The project is called Your Voice In My Head, and provided both jump on board, Watson would play a suicidal woman who is saved from a psychiatrist dying of cancer.  Judging from the thin IMDB that the Harry Potter actress has had after the mega-franchise ended she will probably have more than enough time for the project provided Warner Bros. actually lands the Emma Forest-scripted drama.
