So not many people were interested in Gus Van Sant’s frakking movie Promised Land. That was not a big deal at all giving his street cred includes pics like Good Will Hunting and Milk. Suitably, he may be on the cusp of landing a redemption gig and it is a doozy that falls right into his wheel house. In my mind, it is either going to be a smash hit or a miserable failure. It is Fifty Shades of Grey which is being setup at Universal one year after the studio bought the screen rights for roughly $3 million against 3% of gross.
The Oscar-nominee reportedly went as far as to shoot a scene starring Magic Mike’s Alex Pettyfer, specifically one in which Anastasia Steele loses her virginity to Christian Grey. Pettyfer is definitely not the real Grey though as The Wrap reports this was only for show. Hopefully more details will come out soon enough on the race to cast and hire for Fifty Shades of Grey because its popularity might be waning. That was never a problem with The Da Vinci Code, but then again this is not The Da Vinci Code.
THR ran an interesting Q&A with Universal chairman Adam Fogelson that is enlightening to say the least. While the information he provided was pretty much of the ‘we already knew that variety,’ there was a few things we previously never heard that are worth the quick mention, so let’s get into it.
Selena Gomez stopped by the Funny or Die studios recently for a bit that can best be described as a Fifty Shades of Grey parody. The sketch is called Fifty Shades of Blue as it revolves around a painter who seems clueless to the special role he has in the actress’ life. 
MTV took part in your typical revolving door press junket for Snow White and the Huntsman, and they certainly used their time wisely. Instead of asking questions about the movie, they request Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, and Chris Hemsworth read excerpts from the erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey. 
Saturday Night Live took some time yesterday to make fun of the tremendous success of the best-selling erotic fiction novel Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. The response came in the form of a faux Amazon ad for Mother’s Day with a cast that included Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Vanessa Bayer, Taran Killam, and Nasim Pedrad.
