For those fearful that the declining ratings of Glee would signal its demise, there is nothing to worry about. Usually, bloated budgets often kick programs of the sort off of broadcast when viewership normalizes, but Fox seems to have prepared themselves from such a disaster as they may have learned from their experiences with House. That said, the news is today that the network has renewed their Ryan Murphy-created dramedy for two more years. Television star and former Emmy host Jane Lynch took to Conan last night to do two things. While promoting Glee, she talked about her smoking in clown makeup and…even better…Lynch shared her oddly vast rapping abilities. Just a heads up because I have not mentioned it in a while, Glee’s ratings are definitely not what they used to. It is still a bankable program for the broadcaster to carry, but it is no longer a ‘hit’ television show by any means which may explain why the pop culture refs have subsided. Glee cast member Chris Colfer was on Chelsea Lately last night promoting his Fox dramedy. The series just hit ratings lows this past week so perhaps a little plugging might help keep the show riding high. Here is the interview.
White Collar’s Matt Bomer has been pretty busy as of late. In addition to regular duties on his USA Network show, he has been attached to Steven Soderbergh’s male-stripper feature known as Magic Mike, and now the actor is going to do a guest spot on Glee. TV Line is reporting today that Bomer will appear on the Fox dramedy come April as Blaine’s older brother. Stay tuned for an air date once the episode gets closer to broadcast.
TV Line is reporting today that Helen Mirren will do a guest spot on the January 17th episode of Glee where the award-winning actress will not physically be on camera. Instead, she will play the “inner voice” of one of the characters and that is all we know for now. Mirren is reportedly a big fan of the show, so landing the movie actress to spend a little time of the small screen was a cinch.
