This was good stuff worth checking out even if you are not a fan of the actor’s Showtime series. Continue Reading
Not to be confused with Netflix’s new Kevin Spacey-led drama House of Cards, Showtime has a comedy that tends to do pretty well in the ratings despite its low-key nature called House of Lies. The show found its lead Don Cheadle a Golden Globe just last month in addition to further critical accolades with its second season which premiered the same night. Not long after, it was confirmed that Matt Damon would be making a cameo appearance on the program this currently season, but few details were divulged at that time. Now we know that he will be playing himself as a maniacal megastar version of himself who wants to be able to compete with George Clooney. The episode will air this coming Sunday. A clip follows the jump and further plot details courtesy of Showtime. Continue Reading
Showtime has officially given more life to its winter line-up. Earlier this afternoon, the premium network saw fit to give renewals to their entire Q1 slate which includes Shameless, House of Lies, and Californication. The last one is the lowest performing of the trio (and also the oldest,) so it could always be bumped out in favor of something new; however, each of these shows will return in 2014 at some point. Given the fact that each are experiencing series high ratings at the moment, January premiere dates for all three programs look certain. Continue Reading
Better late than never. Showtime finally saw fit to post its second season premiere of House of Lies online for all to enjoy. This is pretty standard protocol for a premium network fishing for subscribers, but what was weird about this one was just how long it took to show its face. The episode you are about to watch is called Stochasity, and it aired on January 13–the same night Don Cheadle won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Continue Reading
Kristen Bell was on Ellen this week promoting the on-going second season of House of Lies. She said nothing of note about the series, but the reason we take notice today is because last year when on the show the actress talked about her full-on sloth meltdown. This time, we get to see her actually re-live the moment by meeting Lola the sloth. How crazy is Kristen Bell about sloths? She actually knew there was one named Lola in the LA area. Continue Reading
No surprises here. Sunday evening was a night filled with viewership highs on premiere night for Showtime’s winter lineup. Shameless (2 million), House of Lies (1.2 million), and Californication (1.1 million) all debuted higher despite their first episodes back appearing on-demand days in advance. A lot of it has to do with the expanding subscribing base of Showtime which has witnessed unprecedented growth thanks in part to the channel’s fall combo of Homeland and Dexter lighting up Nielsen meters. The press information is after the jump with more details. Continue Reading

While most Showtime watchers are completely satisfied with fall favorites Dexter and Homeland, the premium network’s winter headliner Shameless has gathered some steam throughout its first two years on the air. Anything other than a January debut would be a surprise and today we have our confirmation that it is still on track for the previously announced early 2013 bow. A specific date of January 13 has been shelled out by the channel as the next time viewers will get a chance to see the dramedy.
In addition to the return of this veteran series, it will again be paired with House of Lies and Californication.
