Joel McHale & Robin Williams to Headline ‘Friggin’ Christmas’

robin williams big weddingThere is more Berlin casting news to report this evening.  A package has been set up with Joel McHale, Lauren Graham, and Robin Williams attached to lead.  The film is called Friggin’ Christmas Miracle and it will come complements of Community director Tristram Shapeero and a script by Wreck-It Ralph’s Phil Johnston.

The story for Friggin’ Christmas revolves around McHale’s character Boyd Mitchler and his wife (Lauren Graham) as they spend the holidays with Boyd’s father who will be played by Robin Williams.  Other family members will help fill things out, but for now we focus on the trio cast to lead.  As for the plot, that has Boyd taking a road trip with his younger brother and father to get his son’s gifts before sunrise after leaving them all at home.

This project seems like a win already as Shapeero also has credits on Parks & Recreation as well as the HBO series Veep.  Neither of these stars have really hit it big on the silver screen in the past (including Williams who is going back to television,) so the idea of having an ensemble like this could mutually benefit all of those involved.  McHale probably has the least to gain from sharing screen time though in that he did knock it out of the ballpark playing a supporting role in Seth MacFarlane’s Ted just last summer.

Joel McHale Plays Egg Russian Roulette on ‘Jimmy Fallon’

joel mchaleJoel McHale stopped by Jimmy Fallon last night to promote the return of Community which actually came just hours before broadcast.  The show has been on the hot seat for cancellation since its premiere on the network four years ago, but this time many are betting on the program exiting for good should viewers opt for the DVR once again. Joel McHale Complains About Lego Marketing Scheme on ‘Conan’

Community may not return until February 7th, but the host of The Soup stopped by Conan Tuesday night where he pretty much talked about the usual stuff: trash television and getting out of speeding tickets with college football championship rings.  The comedian also dished on how his kids love Legos and how there is a show specifically designed to manipulate them into getting the newest sets by showcasing them on a television program.  Continue Reading

Joel McHale Addresses ‘Community’ Delay and Network’s Sugar Coated Response

Joel McHale was supposed to be promoting tomorrow’s return of Community, but there is a problem:  NBC pulled the return of the show before it could even air.  What this means is Halloween in February and Thanksgiving in January; however, it also means no more Friday death slot which is actually huge for the comedy’s renewal prospects.  This is essentially what you will hear McHale talk about in his recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel when he confirms the network heads spun the delay to them as ‘a good thing.’

The actor also spoiled a moment in Sons of Anarchy coming up on Tuesday that involves him and Jimmy Smits’ gangbanger character.  He says that the recurring guest star will beat him up over Katey Sagal’s Gemma and strongly suggested death was in the cards. Continue Reading

Joel McHale Shares ‘The Soup’ Production Secrets on ‘Ellen’

Joel McHale took to Ellen recently to promote the upcoming (and yet-to-be-announced) return of Community.  The interview was somewhat enlightening to those of us who wondered how shows like The Soup discover crazy footage from across the television landscape.  According to the comedian, he and a few others use to watch everything they could in order to find content to snatch (including QVC,) but now they actually have people whose job it is to watch endless amounts of television in order to find these hidden gems. First Look Photo of Joel McHale on ‘Sons of Anarchy’

We have not seen a whole lot on the upcoming season of Sons of Anarchy just yet, but we know the fall’s run will be stacked with guest spots.  Among those recurring is Ashley Tisdale, Jimmy Smits, and Community star Joel McHale.  While the first two peaked our interest (especially Smits considering he put in a solid season on Dexter,) it was the recruitment of the host of The Soup that has us most fascinated.   Continue Reading

Joel McHale to Play Con Man in ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Season Five

The upcoming fifth season of Sons of Anarchy has landed yet another big guest star.  Community actor Joel McHale has been tapped to do a multi-episode story arc on the series in which he will play a con man by the name of Warren.  Apparently, he double-crosses the wrong person so we expect him to be dead by year’s end as that is how these sort of things play out on SoA.   Continue Reading

Joel McHale and Andy Richter Have a Leather Pants Discussion on ‘Conan’

Apparently, Conan O’Brien sidekick Andy Richter still has a pair of leather pants from the early 90′s.  Joel McHale was on the show last night where the topic came up as the Community star will be wearing a pair in a future episode.  This of course prompted Richter to proudly confess to having some leather pants of his own in citing the era in which they are from.  Continue Reading

Jimmy Fallon: Joel McHale on His James Cameron Encounter at E3

Joel McHale Makes a Viral Commercial for Nintendo 3DS

Community actor and The Soup host Joel McHale has a new commercial out.  This one is for Nintendo’s 3DS platform.  The gimmick is they are making a viral video to get the word out.  As cliche as it seems, this particular angle normally does surprisingly well.  Jennifer Aniston did the same exact thing just last year with a bottled water commercial that managed to find millions of views on YouTube alone.
