There is more Berlin casting news to report this evening. A package has been set up with Joel McHale, Lauren Graham, and Robin Williams attached to lead. The film is called A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle and it will come complements of Community director Tristram Shapeero and a script by Wreck-It Ralph’s Phil Johnston.
The story for Friggin’ Christmas revolves around McHale’s character Boyd Mitchler and his wife (Lauren Graham) as they spend the holidays with Boyd’s father who will be played by Robin Williams. Other family members will help fill things out, but for now we focus on the trio cast to lead. As for the plot, that has Boyd taking a road trip with his younger brother and father to get his son’s gifts before sunrise after leaving them all at home.
This project seems like a win already as Shapeero also has credits on Parks & Recreation as well as the HBO series Veep. Neither of these stars have really hit it big on the silver screen in the past (including Williams who is going back to television,) so the idea of having an ensemble like this could mutually benefit all of those involved. McHale probably has the least to gain from sharing screen time though in that he did knock it out of the ballpark playing a supporting role in Seth MacFarlane’s Ted just last summer.

Parenthood just returned on Tuesday night where it achieved pretty much status quo ratings, but the trouble with early September premieres is that not a whole lot of people are aware of the new season thus the extra promotion from cast member Lauren Graham. The actress went on Ellen this week and she certainly brought the goods by telling two pretty entertaining party stories. One of which is of her appearance at one of Ellen and Portia’s parties in which she fails at small talk.
