TNT has another scripted hit on their hands in Major Crimes. Averaging 7 million viewers, the show ranks as television’s top new drama and the cable network has seen fit to renew the series earlier today. The second season pickup consists of 15 more episodes scheduled to begin airing next summer. Prospective fans of the show will not have to wait until then to catch their first glimpse though as the show’s current audience is in the middle of watching the drama’s debut run which is scheduled to finish in the middle of October.
Major Crimes joins the somewhat reliable, but also disappointing revival in Dallas and Perception as the rookie renewals for TNT. This makes three hit shows in one season for the channel, validating the network as a destination for off-season programming. Continue Reading
