When word came out that How I Met Your Mother would be back next year, much of the media ignored the signs by running the headline that the comedy has received a ninth season. This neglected the elephant in the room in that ever since season seven fans were hearing that should the sitcom get that far, the ninth season would most certainly be the program’s last. Finally, there is confirmation of the fact that the show’s 2013-14 run will indeed signal closing time to put the speculation to rest. Now the internet can focus on things that matter like whether or not Cobie Smulders will play Maria Hill in ABC’s upcoming SHIELD drama. Hit the jump for today’s official announcement. Fans of the live-action CGI hybrid fare are in luck because next year will mark the release of yet another installment of Sony Animation’s The Smurfs. The film’s sequel finally has a non-teaser trailer out complete with Neil Patrick Harris which is why we make note of this today. For the most part, things will look very similar although NPH barely has any screen time in this initial bit of footage.
It seemed like just yesterday that the franchise first landed on the big screen, grossing north of the $500 million globally. This was all done despite some of the absolute worst reviews of 2011, and history suggests that it will do it again as we look at Alvin and the Chipmunks which experienced similar success early on. Many people are huge fans of Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible Sing-Along Blog and the television world has made a note of that. Starting this October, viewers can catch it on the small screen as the CW will air it. Viewership is never that great for the Tony Awards, but even so it is worth pointing out that How I Met Your Mother star and Harold & Kumar cameoist Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting the event yet again this year. Continue Reading
Neil Patrick Harris made news earlier today as CBS announced his return to hosting the Tony Awards. Naturally, he probably knew about it yesterday afternoon when he stopped by Conan to promote How I Met Your Mother and American Reunion (which he plays a small part in by the way), but rather than out the news he opted to talk about his twins. Here are two clips from yesterday’s show.
The early reviews are coming out for The Smurfs and no one is going to be shocked with the critical response: Reviews unanimously hate the film. The only thing good about this movie critics say is that kids ‘might’ like the film. Everything else was bad, bad, bad. They say it is probably the worst live-action/animation film ever conceived. One critic goes as far as to say that the bits in The Smurfs would be throw away scenes from Hop, Garfield, and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Ouch.
Neil Patrick Harris was on Conan last night to promote his upcoming films, The Smurfs and The Best and Brightest. The actor discusses his kids and play-dates with Elton John. The two also discuss the host’s future appearance on How I Met Your Mother. Continue Reading
Deadline is reporting tonight that Neil Patrick Harris will host the Tony Awards for a second time. Harris hosted the program two years ago and apparently did a decent enough job to be invited back for another go at it. Continue Reading
