‘Nightline’ Provides Fresh Look at ‘Zero Dark Thirty’

Now that we know the movie is good, we feel obligated to share all the special promotional footage for Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty.  The film about the mission to bring down Osama Bin Laden received some special treatment by Nightline Monday evening because of its political roots, and the segment is available online for those who missed it.  Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal each contributed to the piece, talking about the six years they put into making this film which was suddenly rewritten by current events before the start of production. ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ to Swap Timeslots with ‘Nightline’ Starting January 2013

In perhaps the biggest late night shakeup since Leno went back to 11:35 p.m. , ABC has announced today that Jimmy Kimmel will be taking his increasingly popular talk show a half hour earlier.  While the fact that he will go head-to-head with heavyweights Leno and Letterman is a fairly big deal in itself, it is an even bigger deal as to what will happen to Nightline.

The late night news magazine program has been bumped to 12:35 a.m. after countless seasons an hour earlier.  Such a schedule has been kind to ABC over the years as the network has seen viewership wins on several occasions because of its news versus talk appeal which might have a lot of people questioning the move.  Unfortunately, it would look like both are highly profitable entities in their own rite as Kimmel is still the lowest paid of the broadcast late night hosts ($10 million compared to Leno and Letterman’s near-$30 million annual salary) and his promotional schilling and YouTube videos continue to be massive driver’s for the program.
