CinemaCon has brought with it yet another movie trailer Thursday afternoon. This one happens to be for The Internship which is yet another R-rated comedy amidst a crowded field in the niche this summer. The bright spot on this one appears to be its Wedding Crashers reunion setup with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn although it must be said that the behind-the-scenes team and director Shawn Levy was not there in 2005. In other words, do not expect more of the same despite the promised Will Ferrell cameo. Continue Reading
The first official trailer has just arrived for Shawn Levy’s The Internship. This is the long-anticipated Wedding Crashers reunion between Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson that even features another cameo from Will Ferrell. While Ferrell is far from the film’s star, this does help sell the ‘reunion’ aspect of this comedy releasing in June. The plot of the feature has two middle-aged men losing their jobs only to realize that in order to get another one they need to start from the ground up, and that means an internship at a tech giant. It looks like we are less than a week out from the release of a trailer for Shawn Levy’s The Internship. A Google Hangout reveal has just been scheduled for next Wednesday at which point audiences will receive their first good hard look at the Wedding Crashers reunion with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. The plot of the film has the two playing recently unemployed men who opt to start over via internship at a tech giant thus the Google tie-in. These Hangouts typically have not been the most popular way to show off content (the Lincoln trailer debut only premiered to a few thousand sets of eyes,) but we do understand why The Internship will use the internet’s new-fangled marketing tool. Hot off his tag team with Rachel McAdams in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, Owen Wilson continues to add to his resume as he has just joined the John Erick Dowdle-directed thriller The Coup. His role will be that of a father in an American family that moves to Southeast Asia where they find themselves in the midst of a violent coup. The actor is best known for his comedic offerings, but he does have a few action credits from a while ago which makes his casting a bit more legitimate.
This is the second time in a month that Wilson made the entertainment news cycle as he was recently cast in Interns which is a comedy that will serve to reunite him with his Wedding Crashers co-star Vince Vaughn. In that particular film, the pair will play laid off employees who opt to start all over by interning at tech firms. While not nearly as appealing as the topic of crashing weddings, big things are expected for the comedy as it has been gestating for some time now.
Needless to say, both offerings are still a while off, but Owen Wilson will definitely return to the big screen next year as he is attached to two films set to release in 2013. The first is the cryogenic’s comedy Freezing People Is Easy alongside Kristen Wiig and Paul Rudd while the other is Matthew Weiner’s directorial debut You Are Here which stars Zach Galifianakis and Amy Poehler.
It appears that a Wedding Crashers reunion is in the works as Vulture is reporting today that Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn could be gearing up to star alongside each other in Interns–a film about two forty-something guys who get laid off and then opt to start all over via internships at tech firms. Vaughn himself wrote the script for this film which is already being perceived as an auto-blockbuster as the last time the duo teamed together it resulted in over $200 million at the domestic box office.
Wouldn’t you know it, but a movie about freezing people is cinematic gold enough to attract some pretty big names. Reports are surfacing that Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, Kristen Wiig, and Christopher Walken could be joining the cast of Freezing People Is Easy–based on the true story of a 1960′s TV repair man who attempted to pioneer the field of cryogenics. Deadline says while the cast is good to go; however, Kristen Wiig may not join the flick as she has become quite the hot commodity following last years blockbuster film Bridesmaids and reportedly this particularly movie is not the only one vying for her attention.
