Jason Sudeikis Joins Rose Bryne in Rom-Com ‘Tumbledown’

His latest effort will have him starring alongside Damages alumna Rose Byrne in a romantic comedy called Tumbledown. The film centers on a widow (Bryne) that falls for a  New York writer played by Sudeikis. His character is charged with investigating the death of Byrne’s husband, a folk-music hero.

This joins Horrible Bosses 2 on Sudeikis’ slate of upcoming projects. It should make for a good addition as his co-star has some comedic chops. Byrne’s credits in the genre include Get Him to the Great and Bridesmaids even though her most-recent movie is of the dramatic variety, The Place Beyond the Pines in which she plays Bradley Cooper’s wife. That is now showing in select theaters across the country, but beyond that Byrne will be back up on the big screen in less than two months via The Internship. A second trailer for that film just hit the web yesterday.

Supporting stars in Tumbledown include The Newsroom’s Olivia Munn and True Blood’s Joe Manganiello. The movie is from short-film director Sean Mewshaw and should begin filming in October. Desi Van Til, Mewshaw’s partner on a short called Last Night, wrote the script.

‘I Give It A Year’ Trailer with Rose Byrne, Stephen Merchant

Today gives us our first look at Sacha Baron Cohen writer Dan Mazer’s feature directorial debut.  Mazer also provided the script for this romantic comedy which chronicles the trials and tribulations of a pair of newlyweds played by Rose Byrne and Rafe Spall.  The supporting cast could be what sells this one as Anna Faris and Stephen Merchant are also involved.  Not as many people are familiar with the latter, but cult followers of Mr. Ricky Gervais should recognize the comedian’s frequent collaborator thus the importance on that one. Teaser Trailer for ‘Damages’ Season Five Offers First Look at Ryan Phillippe Guest Spot

It has been a while since the last time we got our saw the Rose Byrne-Glenn Close combination in the world of high stakes moral litigation. The last time audiences witnessed the tandem in action was for Damages’ arrival on DirecTV last summer with the recurrence of John Goodman as the season’s villainous lead, but according to Nielsen, not many satellite customers cared enough to tune in on a regular basis despite a gripping narrative set against the world of private military contractors.

Perhaps today’s fresh 30-second spot will grab viewers’ attention for the fifth season as viewers not only get a closer look at Rose Byrne in corpse mode, but they also get their first look at Ryan Phillippe and Jenna Elfman who are both guest starring this year.

Look for the critically acclaimed series to return for its final season on July 11th.
