By Jeff Rosz | May 10th, 2013 There are a few cancellations tonight from The Eye to make brief mention of. CBS has dumped The Golden Boy, CSI: NY, Vegas, and Rules of Engagement. Pretty much anything on the chopping block ended up going, this news coming after CBS warned advertisers that next year’s schedule would look pretty much the same. Given only a few shows are making their way to the exit, Les Moonves seems to have kept his promise.
By Jeff Rosz | April 23rd, 2013 Film and television star Dennis Quaid hit Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night as the actor is hoping to drum up some buzz for his CBS show Vegas as well as his upcoming limited release At Any Price. Ratings for the former are pretty terrible and the network has not decided what it is going to do with their period drama going forward. Schedule jostling is not exactly a good thing for the series’ older audience (last week’s episode actually aired on Saturday because of the late breaking news concerning the Boston Marathon Bomber.) Many are expecting Vegas to be cancelled. Nonetheless, Quaid is out there doing his best to ensure that does not happen, or at the very least, that people might still like him after experimenting with a small screen role. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | February 20th, 2013 Never before have I such witnessed widespread disappointment in what broadcast has to offer on a non-holiday/non-weekend primetime hour than what was on display last night. The overnight Nielsen numbers are in and they show what many have predicted–an across the board flop of the 10 pm/ET time slot across all major broadcasters.
In the 18-49 demographic, the standings went as follows: Vegas (1.5/9.7 million,) Body of Proof (1.2/6.7 million,) and Smash (0.9/3.3 million) all under the make or break mark of 2.0. By ad-supported standards, all three could be cancelled right now. Of course, that will not happen because of a variety of reasons. For the most, it due to a combination of the lack of replacement options and the networks’ pandering to behind-the-scenes talent. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | October 23rd, 2012 We are definitely not shocked by today’s news that CBS has given back-season orders to rookie dramas Vegas and Elementary. With the broadcaster’s Sunday and Friday lineups looking relatively unstable at the moment, there is no question that the 2.0 18-49 rating performances from both of these programs is enough to give the network confidence in continuing either. Of course, Elementary is the better performer of the two; however, Dennis Quaid stars in the latter which gives it an unmerited boost in the hearts of many. Perhaps the feel is that Vegas could garner some critical recognition in the future not unlike The Good Wife. Continue Reading

By Jeff Rosz | May 18th, 2012 There is a new show coming to CBS this fall called Vegas. The show stars Michael Chiklis and Dennis Quaid who have both spent some time on the big screen, so this particular period drama is getting a lot of early love. The series’ leads took to CBS This Morning earlier this week to talk about their newest project’s backdrop and characters. Continue Reading
By Jeff Rosz | May 16th, 2012 One of the most highly anticipated new CBS dramas is a period series that goes by the name of Vegas. Not only is it from director James Mangold, but it also sports a stellar cast with the likes of Terra Nova alumni Jason O’Mara as well as Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis. Continue Reading
