Rob Reiner Recruits Harrison Ford, Zac Efron for Thriller ‘You Belong to Me’

Zac Efron’s stock continues to rise.  Word is that he is in talks to join a psychological thriller opposite Harrison Ford that Rob Reiner will be directing.  This news comes courtesy of The Wrap who says Ford is also in negotiations at this time, but the film titled You Belong to Me looks to be a no-brainer for both parties.

While Harrison Ford is losing a bit of street cred after the ill-received Indiana Jones 4 and last summer’s moderate flop Cowboys & Aliens, he is still Han Solo (for the time being) which should be enough to lure in Efron to get this thing off the ground.  In the film, Ford’s role would be that of a psychiatrist whose patient commits suicide.  He then establishes a bond with the deceased’s brother James (Efron) who proceeds to seduce his wife and daughter. Zac Efron Boards the Black List-Scripted Rom-Com ‘Are We Officially Dating?’

As surprising as it may sound, Zac Efron is actually a fairly big deal in Hollywood.  Earlier this year, the actor led Scott Hicks’ The Lucky One to a pretty profitable box office run and he also voiced one of the leads in the equally surprising animated sensation The Lorax.  It is safe to say that anything he does might get some added attention which is something we would not be saying a few years ago about the High School Musical star.

Today, we are hearing that the actor is on board to star in a romantic comedy called Are We Officially Dating? from relative unknown Tom Gormican via TreeHouse Pictures.  The script made the 2010 Black List (basically a list containing Hollywood’s most coveted blueprints) which is what fostered this unexpected pairing.   Continue Reading
