Zoe Saldana who plays Uhura in the new Star Trek Into Darkness movie took to Jimmy Fallon last night to play some Spaceballs. She also spoke about her new movie among other things. Continue Reading
Zoe Saldana took to Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote her big new release Star Trek Into Darkness. The Avatar actress plays Uhura in this particular franchise which is yet another one of those nerd-heavy properties she has taken part in. Interestingly enough, Kimmel did not ask about those Avatar sequels or her role in Guardians of the Galaxy (another Marvel Studios blockbuster.) That was okay though as Star Trek has enough depth to carry and interview. Continue Reading
We have a brief Avatar update today. The sequels (Avatar 2 and Avatar 3) are still expected to shoot back-to-back near the turn of the next calendar, but now things have narrowed a bit. According to franchise star Zoe Saldana who gave an interview to BBC One’s Jonathan Ross Show, she believes things will be ready to go early next year. This puts things on pace for a 2015 release (the same year we have heard for the past three years.)
I guess the only question that remains is pertains to her newfound obligations to Guardians of the Galaxy and how the two might conflict with each other going forward should Avatar go beyond second and third installments. The fear might be a bit perpetuated if Star Trek Into Darkness’ inevitable sequel was assumed to get fast-tracked, but realistically speaking here, nobody expects to see that for at least three years much to the disappointment of Uhura fans nationwide.
As far as details on the Avatar sequels, we know a few things. For one, the reason things took so long to get off the ground was director James Cameron wanted to remodel the technology a bit so they could have a much easier job in post-production. This way they could pump out sequels left and right. He also let us know back in February he was near the ‘snowball’ moment in the scripts he was still working on all while producers aside from himself told the press to expect that underwater motion-capture scene they have been talking about since the first film’s release.
Yet another clip for Star Trek Into Darkness has hit the web. This one features more dialogue than action as Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk and Zoe Saldana’s Uhura have a moment in an elevator where they both share gripes about Spock. With each additional clip for the J.J. Abrams blockbuster, we are seeing more and more that the film is tremendously deep with just as many angles to look at as Iron Man 3. Let the comparisons begin as the two will likely end up the kings of May 2013. Continue Reading
Before she does Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel or two sequels to Avatar, Zoe Saldana can be seen reprising her role as Uhura in Star Trek Into Darkness. The featurette for her character showed up online today, two weeks in advance of the film’s nationwide rollout.
It is a shame there was no Captain America: The Winter Soldier news today because now there is a story for each film in Marvel Studios’ Phase 2 Avengers lineup except that one. The headline now is a story originating from The Wrap saying that Lee Pace is in final negotiations to play the principal antagonist for Guardians of the Galaxy. In other words, the bad guy is not going to be Thanos even though the pic is widely expected to introduce the main baddie for Joss Whedon’s next blockbuster.
For those unfamiliar with Pace, which should be a whole lot of people, he was the main character in the Bryan Fuller ABC dramedy Pushing Daisies who also had a part in the still-remembered Wonder Falls. On the big screen, his credits include The Good Shepherd, Lincoln, and Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2, but he might be best known now for his role as Thranduil in The Hobbit trilogy. In other words, this dude is a boss and he should make a great addition to GotG.
He joins a cast list that includes Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, and Zoe Saldana. James Gunn is directing the pic which opens in theaters August 1, 2014.
The first sneak peek for Star Trek Into Darkness quietly made its way onto the net Monday afternoon. This is part of the preview shown in December before The Hobbit which showcased the film’s opening scenes. In other words, this reveals nothing people already were not aware of; however, many of you missed out on the footage so I will elaborate a bit. Where we are right now is in the first act right after Captain Kirk and Bones run away from an indigenous population mid-mission. They dive underwater where the Enterprise is hiding (thus the get-up) and now they have to rescue Spock from a volcano. Continue Reading
Coming off of Colombiana and the soon-to-release movie The Words, actress Zoe Saldana has been set up to star in a biopic about civil rights icon Nina Simone. An American singer, songwriter, and pianist, the legend is best known for the role her highly influential music played in the 1960′s.
This is exactly the type of role that Saldana needs to get herself noticed. Despite being pretty much the best actor by a mile in James Cameron’s Avatar, she has not quite been able to make a name for herself, but perhaps adding herself to a group of actors who won numerous awards in similar offerings is the way to do it.
There is a new trailer out for The Words tonight that is much more abbreviated than the previous one. Despite its shortened nature, it manages to show new footage and somewhat adjust what moviegoers might be thinking about this effort from directors Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal. Instead of highlighting the plagiarism-heavy plot, the newest trailer shines a light on its character-driven relationships. Continue Reading
Bradley Cooper has been hard at work upping his street cred in the drama department ever since he broke out in 2009′s The Hangover. The actor’s latest picture comes in the form of The Words under the direction of Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal who also wrote this film as well as TRON: Legacy. Continue Reading
