Zooey Deschanel is doing a little more press for the return of New Girl, so she could be seen on Ellen this morning. Naturally, there was some more to the conversation beyond the hit sitcom as the actress mostly talked about the Primetime Emmy’s over the weekend during which she was caught being unreasonably excited for Louis C.K.’s Emmy win. She also was grabbed in another weird moment on the red carpet involving photographers and Nicole Kidman. 
Zooey Deschanel has a lot of street cred right now. Last year, her comedy New Girl premiered on Fox–a network not known for its live-action sitcoms–and it quickly became one of the broadcaster’s top rated shows. On top of that, people genuinely seem to like her certain brand of weirdness, so it is more than worth a quick look at her latest appearance on The Tonight Show. The interview included a lot of discussion about rejection and the revelation that Paul McCartney watches DVD extras. Who knew? Also on topic was Zooey Deschanel’s recent guest spot on The Simpsons and Zooey Deschanel’s Emmy nomination. 
Check out the latest iPhone 4S commercials. They use New Girl star Zooey Deschanel and Samuel L. Jackson to promote the smartphone, but really they are promoting the utilization of Siri. The feature has been a bit controversial as many considered it to be a mere novelty act with no real added benefit beyond screwing around when the device is first purchased. Apple is hedging its bets though in that Siri might provide their product with a unique advantage over rival smartphones, so it is in their best interest to get people using it even if that means teaching the public how it is done.
Zooey Deschanel was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote New Girl. The show just wrapped its first season, and while this interview discusses the absence of a second season renewal, the show is pretty much a lock for another year as its ratings tower above other live-action comedies on the network. Some networks tend to use pickups strategically to generate press for weaker pickups by pairing them in the same news release. This ultimately results in a bundled article on news blogs that will simultaneously cover renewals for multiple shows. The logic behind it is simple: Get viewers thinking the series’ are in the same class.

Tiran Killam busted out a Piers Morgan impression to tackle the controversy surrounding M.I.A.’s Super Bowl halftime performance. While many cast members had parts in this one, the night’s host, Zooey Deschanel, took the cake by playing an ultra conservative mom upset about the incident. Also, Kristen Wiig’s Madonna impression was pretty decent.
